5% Rake: Payouts, Expected Return and Break-Even

A worked example separates the pot fee, your payout and your expected return — without promising a personal win rate.

A fee and a return measure different things

Rake is the operator's fee from a settled pot. Return to player describes payouts relative to stakes over a specified set of outcomes or under a probability model. The terms are different, but their numbers can be related. It would be wrong to say that a 5% pot fee has no connection to a 95% return.

In an equal-stake, two-player duel with a 5% rake, the winner receives 95% of the combined stakes. Across both players, that is exactly 95% returned from each settled pot. It does not mean each player gets back 95% in a particular round or session. One receives the payout; the other loses the stake.

A 10 USDT example

Suppose both players stake 10.00 USDT and the displayed rake is 5%. The pot is 20.00 USDT, the fee is 1.00 USDT, and the winner receives 19.00 USDT. The winner's net profit is 9.00 USDT, because the payout includes the original 10.00 stake. The loser's net result is −10.00 USDT.

These are example terms, not a promise that every future round uses the same fee. Check the stake and final payout shown before confirming a cash round. A cancelled, refunded round is not a settled win or loss in this calculation. Deposit or withdrawal charges, where applicable, are separate from the round's rake. What winning half the rounds means

Assume a fixed 10.00 USDT stake, a 5% rake and a 50% chance of winning each completed duel. The expected payout is 0.5 × 19.00 = 9.50 USDT per 10.00 staked. Under that model, the expected return is 95% and the expected net loss is 0.50 USDT per round. This is a calculation, not an estimate of every player's actual win probability.

If a player completes 100 such rounds with exactly 50 wins and 50 losses, the net result is 50 × 9.00 − 50 × 10.00 = −50.00 USDT. With a 50% win probability, −50.00 is also the expected result over 100 rounds, but a particular session can finish far above or below it. Recycling the same balance into later stakes does not make those later rounds free.

The break-even win rate

Let w be the win probability. At these terms the expected net result is w × 9.00 − (1 − w) × 10.00. It reaches zero when w = 10/19, approximately 52.63%. This threshold assumes equal fixed stakes, the stated payout and no other charges. A short run above that percentage does not demonstrate a sustainable advantage.

For stake s and pot-rake fraction r, the winner payout is 2s(1 − r), the net win is s(1 − 2r), and break-even is w = 1/[2(1 − r)]. A different win probability changes the individual's expected return. Different stakes require comparing actual money results, not just counting wins.

What this calculation cannot promise

The rake alone does not determine your chance of winning. Pass decisions, the opponent and network delivery can affect a duel. Passing earlier is not a guarantee of profit, and a valid round proof does not establish equal network conditions or certify a personal win rate.

Set a spending and time limit before playing. More rounds do not guarantee recovery of previous losses. The useful distinction is between the known price of a settled pot and the uncertain result for one player — not between a fee that matters and an expected return that does not.
